Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday where families remember deceased relatives and loved ones. Its roots date back to Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica over 3000 years ago. Today, celebrations vary from region to region, and often include traditional food and family altars, called ofrendas. In this exhibit, Kansas City-based artists celebrate their cultural heritage through art and ofrendas installations.
This exhibit is in partnership with Mattie Rhodes and is sponsored by VIBE, a Commerce Bank’s employee resource group. Recuerdos image credit: Chico Sierra
